Another Scary Day!

2nd Dr. Visit
We had our second visit with the doctor today- once again... a scary experience! The Nursing tech was unable to find the baby's heartbeat. Of course, I thought the worst and started to cry. But then, our fabulous doctor came in and found it right away. It was a good, strong heartbeat of 166 beats per minute! I guess our baby was being a little stubborn- he/she kept moving away from the doppler unit and "hiding" from us. The doctor was only able to get the HB for about 2-3 seconds and then it was gone, so she'd have to search for another minute again :-) At least we know that we have an active baby- here's hoping it keeps growing strong!

1st Dr. Visit
I was really anxious because the week before I suddenly felt "unpregnant". I had lost 4 lbs since the positive test and didn't have the horrible morning sickness that I had been having all day long.
She began the exam and said "I don't think you are as pregnant as you think you are, I'm going to order an ultrasound and see if they can get you in right away." Then she walked out of the room. I started sobbing- I was sure something was wrong!
Good news! We had the ultrasound and got to see our little peanut! We also got to hear the heartbeat (it was a strong 150 beats per minute). That was such an amazing moment for both of us, and Jeremy will openly admit to tearing up at that sound. The doctor was wrong- we were measuring at 7 weeks and 2 days- everything was right on track.
Here are a few pics for you to enjoy!
I think he/she looks just like daddy! hahaha
A little backstory (okay so it's a bit long)
So you all know that Jeremy and I just got married March 8th, and you all know that we wanted kids right away. What we never expected was for it to happen so quickly.
We left for our honeymoon on the Morning of March 9th and arrived in Mexico that day. We had a fantastic time- in fact, it was the first time in over a year that I was completely and totally relaxed.
Here is a picture of us shortly after we arrived! We quickly hit the beach!
I would like to say that we partied it up that night, but we were absolutely beat! We were asleep by 6:30- couldn't even stay up late enough to go out for dinner and had to order room service :-)
Anyhow, we were having the most wonderful time and about 3 days into our vacation, I developed a cold. I told Jeremy that I just didn't feel like myself. I had a gut feeling that I was indeed pregnant. I know, I know- crazy woman- right??
Wrong!!! I felt so strongly about it that I got up early one morning and walked to the giftshop to buy a pregnancy test! You should have seen the look on the cashier's face when I asked for it- I was sooo embarrassed. I didn't tell Jeremy what I was up to- I didn't want him to be disappointed. So there I sat- in the restroom of the resort lobby, peeing on a stick. I looked at the directions and... Shit- I can't read Spanish!!! I took me forever to figure out that the test was negative (obviously it was too early to test, but hey, I'm new to this whole thing) I was really sad because I just "knew" something was going on with my body.
Skip to when we leave to come home- This pic was from our romantic honeymooner's dinner the night before we left.
When we got back, my "cold" got a lot worse. I decided to go to the doctor and was told that I had a sinus infection, bronchitis and laryngitis. It's amazing- I didn't really feel that bad while we were gone. Anyhow, the doc prescribed me some antibiotics. I absolutely refused to take them. I still believed!
Then finally... On the 19th of March, I took a test at home and my heart rejoiced! I guess it was women's intuition...who knows?? I'm just glad that something told me not to take the meds! Jeremy and I were in disbelief- we cried and laughed and thanked God for blessing us with such a miracle.
I'll try to keep the posts coming more regularly now.

We've Got News!!
You guessed it....
We're Pregnant!!!
I know we weren't exactly quiet about our desire to have kids right away, so this may not come as a shockto some of you, but we were surprised it happened soooo quickly.
We literally came back from the honeymoon with a special little souvenir! I'm a little overwhelmed and extremely excited! I guess I never understood how much your life changes instantly!
I am overcome with emotion- awe, disbelief, worry, anxiety and most of all, joy. This news was the real reason we started this blog to begin with. Since we have family and friends all across the country, we wanted them to be able to track the baby's progress along with us.
We hope you enjoy!

I have a life again!
Hopefully we'll have something more exciting to post about next time- my blog is lame!
