Long Overdue!!

Hello faithful blog readers! I'm am very sorry that it has been so long since my last post. We haven't had any internet at home and it's difficult to get away to find some free WIFI. I am currently at Panera, with Isaiah, my diaper bag and our laptop in hand. I got some pretty funny looks! A lot has happened since I last posted. I'll do my best to fill you in on everything. First of all, I'd like to say that the new job is going very well. Thank you for all the words of encouragement and support. Leaving Isaiah is still hard, but I know that he loves it at his daycare. The women that watch him are awesome! Since the last time I posted, Isaiah has been very sick. It has gone on for about a month but I think we are finally on the homestretch. It started the first week I took him to daycare, he got a really stuffy nose. This ended up being RSV even though we didn't know it at the time. Then it turned into bronchiolitis and an ear infection. The little guy was not amused and mommy and daddy were not getting any sleep! After 2 weeks of breathing treatments and 10 days of antibiotics we are all starting to get a bit more rest. It's terrible when you have a sick baby and you can't do anything to comfort him! Even though he wasn't feeling good, he was a trooper-still smiling and giggling as always (with the exception of a few days) We had a great playdate with Danielle and Liam, Sam and Bridget, and Micki and Lyla. We went to the Indianapolis Children's Museum. I hadn't been there since I was a little girl! It was a lot of fun, but daddy was bummed he didn't get to go, so I'm sure another trip is in the near future. Here is a pic of Isaiah and Liam at the museum. Earlier this month, Jeremy and I celebrated our one year anniversary (crazy huh?). Danielle and Andy were nice enough to offer to watch Isaiah for us so we could go out for dinner. We went to Ruth's Chris (the spot where Jeremy proposed) and had a wonderful dinner. The weather was so nice that we decided to take a walk over to the Omni for a little reminiscing. We had a great time- thanks again Danielle and Andy! The next day started with another playdate with Liam. These two are quickly becomming buddies and have FINALLY stared to recognize each other. It was so much fun watching them interact and laugh at one another. Isaiah had his 4 month check up this week and aside from being sick, the doctor was pleased! It seems as though his length has finally caught up with his weight and head circumference. At this month's visit, Isaiah weighed 16 pounds and was 25 1/4 inches long. His head circumference was 43 centimeters. He is now right at 75th percentile for all three measurements. Isaiah had to get his shots, and a finger stick, but was brave for the whole visit. We were surprised to learn that he is also working on getting his first tooth. Dr. McManus also gave us the okay to start Isaiah on some rice cereal. We were excited to see how he would do. Isaiah was a little tentative at first (he really liked it, but couldn't figure out the spoon) but now he loves dinner time! Here is a photo from his first few bites of cereal. He is getting to be such a big boy! Anyone who has been around Isaiah lately can tell you that his personality is really shining through! He has the greatest laugh (more like an adult than a baby) and it is quite contagious! He loves to stand and jump and therefore we were prompted to buy a jumperoo for him. I really think that it was the single best purchase we have made to date! He LOVES this thing. I took a video from when we first got it, but he is so much more into it now that he's had it for a couple of weeks. He still isn't quite tall enough to touch the floor, so we have to put something under his feet.
Another huge accomplishment for Isaiah... he learned how to roll over from his belly to his back. He did it all weekend, and then... he stopped! We have only gotten him to do it once more since then. The doctor said that since he had such a big growth spurt (2 inches in one month), he may have to relearn. Here is a video from the 2nd time he rolled. We were obviously very excited! He is actually very close to rolling from his back to his belly now!
Anyway...I'll try to be better at posting. My visits to Panera may become more frequent. Here are afew more pics for you to enjoy! Isaiah at 3 months!
> Isaiah's "cornholio" picture. I woke up one morning to Isaiah laughing at his mobile and this is how I found him. He had somehow wiggled out of his swaddleme, gotten one of his mittens off and had the back of it up over his head! It was so funny!

One sad day!

Hello family and friends! I am writing this post tonight with a heavy heart. Tonight is my last night of maternity leave and tomorrow morning I have to take Isaiah to his first day of daycare. I have to be honest... I'm really dreading it. It's not because I don't trust the women who will be watching him, I do trust them, and I know that they will do a great job with him. I guess it's because I'm jealous. I'm jealous that someone else gets to enjoy the most precious person in my life. Someone else gets to be hypnotized by his infectious smile and laugh at his contagious giggles. My heart has grown so full of love for this little man, and sharing him is simply difficult for me to do. I am going to miss him like crazy- and I wonder how I am going to get through my day. For those of you who don't know... I'm starting a new job. It's basically with the same company, only now I will be working with the doctors at OrthoIndy instead of the physical therapists. Often times, I will be in the same office as Jeremy. I'm excited for the change, and happy to announce that I will only be working 2 days per week. With this job change comes a new set of challenges and a learning curve... one more reason why I am anxious about tomorrow. I know things will get easier with time, and I keep telling myself that he'll be fine. I think I'm the one who's going to have a tough time. Sorry for the downer of a post, I'll try to be a bit more upbeat next time.

Anyway... here is the info that you all really want to hear: It's been a few weeks since we last wrote and we've had some fun times.

We made a quick trip to Jeremy's Aunt and Uncle's house for a visit. We had a great time, and Isaiah loved cuddling with his Great Uncle Si. I made a makeshift playmat for Isaiah out of the toys that hang above his pack n play. He LOVES staring at the zebra and kicking his legs. Isaiah has been spending more time on his belly, and as much as he hates it, he is getting stronger. When he lies on his "monkey skin blanket" he doesn't hate his tummy time AS much- but I think that's because he is too busy chewing on the monkey's head! As you can see from the last photo here, his neck is much stronger. Nana Miller came for an overnight visit. Isaiah loved laughing at her made up songs. We had our weekly playdates with Danielle and Liam. As you can see, he gets wiped out!We went shopping at the mall and stopped into The Children's Place and took a pic of this awesome newsboy cap- I think we are gonna have to go back and get it!

I don't have any pictures of our Valentine's Day, but we had a great time. My sister and brother in law got Jeremy and I tickets to see Cirque du Soleil's Saltimbanco at Conseco Fieldhouse. If you have never seen one of their shows, I highly recommend it. Jeremy and I got to have a date, while Nana and Isaiah had a date of their own. We had lunch, attended the show and then went for dessert. Auntie Steph and Uncle also got Isaiah an adorable shirt for Valentine's day. It said "Mommy's Little Love Bandit" I had planned on taking some pictures when we got home from the show, but Isaiah had a little "accident" when nana was changing his diaper and his outfit got all wet. When we got home, he was in different clothes. I'll try to get the pic that my mom took and post it next time. Anyway, we had a fabulous time! Thanks Steph and Heath!

Today we went to church and attended Liam's baptism. Isaiah finally got to wear one of the outfits that Great Grandma and Grandpa Christian got him. What a handsome little man! I'll end with a couple of videos. The first is of Isaiah laughing. I know I posted one of these before, but I love it sooo much! The second video is of Isaiah "dancing" in his crib while looking at his mobile. I put his rattle slippers on him and he got really excited! I guess that is it for now. Please say a short prayer for us-the next few weeks are gonna be tough. We love you!

PS- I am aware that Isaiah is now 3 months old and I need to post another comparison photo. I'll try to get it up ASAP! Stay tuned for more updates!

Watch me grow!

I thought it would be easier to compare the pics if they were all in one post. The rest of this week's info is in the previous post. Check back here monthly for the newest photo of Isaiah and his monkey!

The best job ever!

Hello Everyone! I was just sitting here, trying to figure out what I was going to write, and the overwhelming message in my heart is how much I LOVE being a mom! It really is the best job ever. Despite going through some days without a shower, with spit-up on my shirt and elbow deep in dirty diapers- I wouldn't change it for the world. It can be the worst day ever but one flirty little smile from my baby boy and I'm on cloud nine. He has such a great personality and continues to amaze me each and every day. He smiles and laughs and "talks" all the time. I just wish I had some idea of what he was saying to me! I sincerely hope that some day soon, I will be able to stay home permanently with Isaiah. I believe that we are all put on this earth for a purpose, and I have always felt that my purpose was to be a mommy. Nothing else seems to matter- no job could ever be as fulfilling! We'll see what the future holds!

This past Tuesday I took Isaiah to the doctor for his 2 month check-up. He is doing great! The medication for his acid reflux seems to be doing the trick, because he is spitting up much less and is a happier baby. Here are the stats for his 2 month visit... Length- 22.75 inches (up 3.25 inches from birth), Weight- 13 lbs, 4 oz (up 6 lbs 4 oz from birth) and Head Circumference- 41 cm (up 6.5 cm from birth). He has definately been growing well! At birth, Isaiah was in the 50th percentile for all three measurements for his age. Now, he is in the 50th percentile for length, 75th percentile for head circumference and 85th percentile for weight! He's built like his mommy and daddy! He also got his first set of immunizations. OUCH! He was not a happy boy!

Not much else has been going on. We've been spending some quality time on our tummy trying to get those neck muscles strong enough to lift up his head. We've also had a few playdates with Liam and Danielle and a visit from Jeremy's Aunt Susie. I'm just trying to take advantage of each and every moment that I have with Isaiah. I know my days are numbered, and I'll be returning to work soon. I continue to hope and pray that Isaiah will get all the love and attention that he deserves when he goes to daycare.

Here are a few pics from the last couple of weeks.

I fell asleep on my changing table while waiting for my bath- bedtime can't come soon enough!

Watch it! I'm the Banana Bandit! Thanks Auntie Steph and Uncle Heath!

Smiling Man!

Hello everyone! Where do I begin? We have been having a lot of fun the last couple of weeks. Isaiah is still an eating machine and is growing like a weed! We have been having some issues with him keeping his food down- he has been spitting up- a lot! We just went to the doctor today and Isaiah was given some medicine for acid reflux. I know we just started it, but he has been a much happier baby today. We also had a HUGE accomplishment last night- Isaiah slept for 6 hours straight! I can't assume it's going to last, since he regularly wakes up every 2-3 hours, but he're hoping. The last couple of weeks he enjoyed watching the last Colts game at home, visiting with family at Keystone Mall, watching the ball drop on New Year's Eve, hanging out with our best friends, The Tschida's, playing with Nana so mommy and daddy could go see a movie, and practicing his smiles! Here are a few pictures for you to enjoy. I can't believe how big he is getting and how much his personality is coming to light! He is such a little man! Hoping the Colts would make another Super Bowl run. There's always next year! My third cousin Zachary and me. Napping on mommy's lap. First kiss of the New Year! Daddy and Liam, Andy and Me. Me and my best buddy with our mommies. Me and my Nana.

Baby's First Christmas

I realize I have quite a bit of updating to do, especially since our little man is already 5 weeks old! Can you believe it?? First things first, an update on his growth. We went in for his one month check-up and all of that eating has certainly done it's job. Isaiah weighed in at 9 lbs 4 oz and 21.5 inches long! Our pediatrician was pleasantly surprised- she couldn't believe he gained almost 2 pounds in 2 weeks! I decided that I wanted to try to take a picture of him each month in the same pose so we can compare how he changes from month to month. Here is the first entry.
I know I'm biased, but he's so stinkin cute!!!

We're still struggling a bit with sleeping at night. Some nights are really great, and others... well not so much! I think part of the problem is that Isaiah is now eating around 4 ounces and at night, he falls asleep before he can get enough. So, he wakes up about 5 minutes after I put him down because he's still hungry! I'm sure it will eventually even out, but until then, I'm so thankful that I have a husband that allows me to sleep in on the weekends.

With it being Christmas season and all, Isaiah got introduced to shopping at the mall a little earlier that I would have liked, but I didn't really have a choice- we had to get Daddy's present. Luckily, we were able to get in and out in a few hours. Isaiah was not happy being in his stroller, so I became one of those moms who was carrying her baby in one arm and pushing the stroller and all of the bags with the other arm. I know 10 pounds isn't that heavy, but carrying him in one arm for 2 hours proved to be a little difficult.

We were invited to a Christmas party, and decided to make the trek out in the cold to show off our little bundle. It was a lot of fun, we ate a bunch of food and Isaiah ate a bunch of milk! Here is a pic from that party. Isaiah was enjoying staring at himself in the mirror. That is, until he realized that daddy was taking a picture.

Last but not least, we enjoyed our first Christmas together. We had originally planned to go to my grandma's but the weather was not cooperating and we didn't want to take him out unnecessarily. So, my mom came down and we had a quiet day at home. We had a fabulous breakfast of biscuits and sausage gravy prepared by nana, followed by a morning full of nursing, and diaper changes. Then, we decided it was time to open gifts. By this time, Isaiah was sleeping again, and started getting a little fussy when it was time to open his presents. Here are just a few pics from the day.

Bouncing, Birthday and New Shoes!

We've finished another week and I'm trying really hard to keep up with posting pics. This little guy has changed so much so quickly and I want everyone to be able to watch him grow. Not much has changed as far as our routine goes, I just got used to being home alone with Isaiah. I have to admit, as boring as it may be some times, I wouldn't change it for the world- I would give anything to be able to stay home with him forever! Isaiah's appetite continues to get stronger, but he has recently started spitting up quite a bit. It's not everytime he eats, but it happens everyday. This gets to be really frustrating because after nursing for an hour, he spits up and then is hungry again! This week, I learned that the bouncer and the swing are priceless. Not only does Isaiah really enjoy them, putting him in them lets me get the laundry done, take a shower, and go to the restroom. I didn't really think about how having him would affect my ability to go to the restroom when I wanted to! Here is a video of Isaiah enjoying his bouncer. He won't stay in it for more that about 15 minutes- I think he gets frustrated because he can't grab the toys.

Since I didn't know for sure when Isaiah was going to make his appearance in this world, I had to postpone some plans. Jeremy's birthday was December 2nd and I didn't know for sure whether I would be up for anything by that time. So... I planned a surprise for him for December 13th. It wasn't anything big, just dinner with some friends, but it sure was nice to get out. It was our first experience eating out with Isaiah, and I'm happy to say that he was wonderful. He slept through most of the dinner, and awoke to eat only after we were all finished with our meals. I know it won't be that easy for long, so we wanted to take advantage. We thought we would take the opportunity to get a family photo.
Just in case you couldn't see them in that photo, here is another one, to show off Isaiah's super cool shoes that he got from his Aunt Stephanie and Uncle Heath.

Today, Isaiah enjoyed watching the Colts game with daddy. We decided that they needed some luck and let Isaiah wear one of his Colts onsies even though it's a little big. The game is currently underway and even though we are winning, it's not looking pretty!

One last thing to tell you about... Isaiah slept in his big boy bed this weekend. It went really well- he slept for about 3- 3 1/2 hours at a time! I think it's gonna take longer for Daddy and I to adjust to him not being in our room than it will for Isaiah.

Here are a few more pics from this week!
Isaiah was really hungry...unfortunately Daddy's face doesn't have a nipple on it!

Are you lookin at me?

Even when I'm sleeping I can wave at my peeps!
